Hometown: St. Louis, MO
Degree: BFA Theatre Arts, The Theatre School at DePaul University, 2011
What I like best about DePaul: I absolutely love that we have two campuses so students can experience different sides of Chicago. In Lincoln Park you’re surrounded by a quiet neighborhood so you can walk to the zoo or the lake, stop in a restaurant or boutique, or just read a book on the quad. The Loop has a completely different feel – you’re in the middle of one of the busiest business districts in the country and you’ll be hustling and bustling right alongside Chicagoans on their way to the office when you’re heading to class or an internship. Make sure you take a minute when you step out of the elevator to see the amazing view of the city from DePaul’s high-rise buildings!
College Search Tip: Visit, visit, visit! You may know every single bit of trivia about a college or university but until you step on campus you never really know whether or not you’ll click with a school. Sit in on an information session, take a tour, eat lunch on campus, ask current students about their experience – a website won’t tell you everything you need know. We’re lucky here in Illinois that you can visit big downtown urban campuses and small rural campuses all within a couple of hours of each other, so do some exploring! You never know what you’ll find.
What's your favorite season in Chicago, and why? Nothing beats summer in the city for me. I love going to the beach, watching baseball, visiting all of the city’s parks, and eating outside on patios or rooftops! There are neighborhood street festivals almost every weekend so it’s a great opportunity to explore a different part of town, try a new restaurant, or meet some local artists all in a single afternoon.
Cubs or Sox? I have to admit, I’m a hometown girl on this one. St. Louis Cardinals all the way! But I did live in Wrigleyville while I was a student at DePaul, so the Cubs hold a special place in my heart.
Deep dish or thin crust? Do I have to choose?! If you’re looking for deep dish, my favorite is Art of Pizza right here in Lincoln Park but there are so many amazing options in the city. Head out to Wicker Park for a slice from Piece or take the train over to Wrigley to see what crazy new toppings Dimo’s has come up with. You can’t go wrong with pizza in Chicago!
